Ertapenem side effect was reported by a Pharmacist from UNITED STATES on Sept 08, 2008. Male patient, 73 years of age, weighting 155.6 lb, was diagnosed with empyema, lung abscess and was treated with Ertapenem. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: cardio-respiratory arrest, faecal incontinence, grand mal convulsion, headache
, postictal state, urinary incontinence
. Ertapenem dosage: 1000 MG Q24TH IV BOLU, 2 DOSES OVER 2 DAYS. During the same period patient was treated with AMIODARONE, LASIX, INSULIN GLARGINE, DUONEB, LEVOTHYROXINE, OMEPRAZOLE, VICODIN. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
