Ethambutol side effect was reported by a Health Professional from AUSTRALIA on June 29, 2007. Male patient, 40 years of age, was diagnosed with mycobacterium avium complex infection and was treated with Ethambutol. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acid fast bacilli infection, activities of daily living impaired, acute psychosis, agitation, alanine aminotransferase increased, anaemia, blood culture positive, culture stool positive, delusion of grandeur. Ethambutol dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with CLARITHROMYCIN, RIFABUTIN, SULFAMETHOXAZOLE AND TRIMETHOPRIM, FLUCONAZOLE, HIV ANTIVIRALS. Patient recovered.

Female patient, weighting 106.0 lb, was diagnosed with mycobacterium avium complex infection and was treated with Ethambutol. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: alanine aminotransferase increased, aspartate aminotransferase increased, asthenia, back pain What is  back pain, body temperature increased, chills, fatigue, hyperaesthesia, malaise. Ethambutol dosage: 1200MG ONCE PO. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
