Gefitinib side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from on Jan 24, 2005. Female patient, 60 years of age, was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer and was treated with Gefitinib. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: condition aggravated, interstitial lung disease, lung infection, pyrexia, respiratory distress, respiratory failure. Gefitinib dosage: 250 MG DAILY. During the same period patient was treated with CARBOPLATIN, GEMCITABINE. Patient died.

Male patient, 58 years of age, weighting 215.0 lb, was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer and was treated with Gefitinib. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: chest pain , condition aggravated, hypoxia, no therapeutic response, respiratory failure, tachycardia. Gefitinib dosage: 250 MG QD PO. During the same period patient was treated with OMEPRAZOLE, PREDNISOLONE, MORPHINE SULPHATE, FLUOXETINE, DIFFLAM, GABAPENTIN, ADCAL, FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died on 12/28/2004.

Female patient, 56 years of age, weighting 171.5 lb, was diagnosed with glioma, recurrent cancer, malignant melanoma and was treated with Gefitinib. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: anaemia, blood osmolarity decreased, bone lesion, condition aggravated, dehydration, depressed level of consciousness, diabetes mellitus, diarrhoea, eating disorder . Gefitinib dosage: 500 MG QD PO. During the same period patient was treated with RAPAMUNE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
