Loperamide side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from on July 31, 2007. Male patient, 74 years of age, was diagnosed with diarrhoea, infection prophylaxis and was treated with Loperamide. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal distension, abdominal tenderness, ascites, clostridial infection, gastrointestinal sounds abnormal, malaise, megacolon, white blood cell count increased. Loperamide dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with CEFOTIAM HYDROCHLORIDE, CLINDAMYCIN, CEFCAPENE PIVOXIL. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Female patient, 58 years of age, was diagnosed with diarrhoea, localised infection, hypothyroidism and was treated with Loperamide. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal distension, abdominal pain What is  abdominal pain, amoebic colitis, anorexia, colectomy, diarrhoea, diarrhoea haemorrhagic, gastrointestinal necrosis. Loperamide dosage: 2 MG Q6H X 12 DAYS. During the same period patient was treated with RIFAXIMIN, LEVOTHYROXINE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
