Niacin side effect was reported by a Pharmacist from UNITED STATES on May 21, 2008. Male patient, 68 years of age, was diagnosed with hyperlipidaemia and was treated with Niacin. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: anorexia, renal failure acute, rhabdomyolysis. Niacin dosage: 1000 MG EVERY DAY PO. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Male patient, 68 years of age, was diagnosed with hypercholesterolaemia, transient ischaemic attack and was treated with Niacin. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal pain What is  abdominal pain, alanine aminotransferase increased, anorexia, ascites, aspartate aminotransferase increased, blood alkaline phosphatase increased, blood bilirubin increased, body temperature decreased, chromaturia. Niacin dosage: 500 MG TID PO. During the same period patient was treated with ECOTRIN, VITAMIN, VIT C. Patient recovered.

Niacin dosage: 1000 MG. BID PO. Patient recovered.
