Photofrin side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from JAPAN on Nov 24, 2005. Male patient, 74 years of age, was diagnosed with oesophageal carcinoma and was treated with Photofrin. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: mediastinitis, pericardial effusion, radiation injury. Photofrin dosage: 2 MG/KG I.V.. Patient recovered.

Male patient, 58 years of age, was diagnosed with oesophageal carcinoma and was treated with Photofrin. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: condition aggravated, mediastinitis, pericardial effusion, therapeutic response decreased. Photofrin dosage: 2 MG/KG I.V.. Patient died.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: cardiac tamponade, deep vein thrombosis , fatigue, international normalised ratio increased, nausea , pericardial effusion, pneumonia . Photofrin dosage: 248 MG I.V.. During the same period patient was treated with COUMADIN, ATIVAN, PREVACID, LEVOFLOXACIN. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
