Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Physician from UNITED STATES on Sept 08, 2008. Female patient, child 9. years of age, weighting 36.00 lb, was diagnosed with basedow's disease, hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute hepatic failure, antimitochondrial antibody positive, antinuclear antibody positive, aphthous stomatitis, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatitis , liver transplant , smooth muscle antibody positive. Propylthiouracil dosage: 150 MG, 100 MG, 150 PO. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with basedow's disease, hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute hepatic failure, brain herniation, coagulopathy, encephalopathy, hepatic fibrosis, hepatic necrosis, hepatitis , hepatocellular injury. Propylthiouracil dosage: 100 MG TID PO. Patient died on 12/05/2007.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal pain , bradycardia, cardiac arrest , diarrhoea, hepatic failure, hepatic necrosis, hepatitis , liver transplant , vomiting. Propylthiouracil dosage: unknown. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
