Stavudine and blood sodium decreased Patient Reports February 09, 2010

Stavudine Side Effects Report #5712895-X
Stavudine side effect was reported by a Health Professional from UNITED STATES on Apr 21, 2008. Male patient, 39 years of age, was diagnosed with hiv infection  and was treated with Stavudine. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal distension, anorexia, aspartate aminotransferase increased, blood alkaline phosphatase increased, blood bilirubin increased, blood creatinine increased, blood potassium increased, blood sodium decreased, blood urea increased. Stavudine dosage: 30 MG TWICE DAILY ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with EFAVIRENZ, LAMIVUDINE, LASIX, ENALAPRIL MALEATE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died on 06/20/2007.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: arrhythmia , blood alkaline phosphatase increased, blood sodium decreased, cardiac failure congestive, cardiomyopathy , cerebrovascular accident, haemoglobin decreased, immunosuppression. Stavudine dosage: 40 MG BID PO. During the same period patient was treated with EFAVIRENZ, LAMIVUDINE, COTRIMOXAZOLE, DIGOXIN, ENALAPRIL MALEATE, LASIX, WARFARIN. Patient died on 12/16/2007.

Stavudine dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with EFAVIRENZ, LAMIVUDINE, DIGOXIN, ENALAPRIL MALEATE, LASIX, SPIRONOLACTONE. Patient died on 12/16/2007.
