Xifaxan side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from UNITED STATES on June 28, 2005. Female patient, 79 years of age, was diagnosed with gastrointestinal disorder and was treated with Xifaxan. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: asthenia, feeling abnormal, listless, sluggishness. Xifaxan dosage: 200MG/TID,ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with PREDNISONE, IMURAN, LASIX, POTASSIUM, ASPIRIN, CITRACAL, LOPRESSOR, PLAVIX. Patient recovered.

Female patient, 85 years of age, weighting 100.0 lb, was diagnosed with gastrointestinal bacterial infection, overgrowth bacterial and was treated with Xifaxan. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: asthenia, diarrhoea, faecal incontinence, head injury, hypophagia, insomnia. Xifaxan dosage: FOR 7 DAYS EACH MONTH (200 MG, 3 IN 1 D), ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with PANCREATIC ENZYMES, TINCTURE OF OPIUM, LEVOTHYROXINE, DARBEPOETIN ALFA, METOPROLOL, LPERAMIDE, VICODIN. Patient died on 12/14/2008.

Xifaxan dosage: 800 MG (400 MG, 2 IN 1 D), ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with VANCOMYCIN, METRONIDAZOLE. Patient was hospitalized and became disabled. Patient recovered.
