I HAVE BEEN ON PRADAXA 150MG CAPSULES FOR A MONTH AND A HALF NOW AND HAVE NOTICED SOME SIDE AFFECTS WHICH WERE AND ARE, UNEXPLAINED ITCHING AND RASHES ON MY ARMS AND BACK, SOME TIMES BLACK STOOL AND PAIN IN MY STOMACH, A LITTLE HIGHER READINGS ON MY GLUCOMETER FOR SUGAR AS I AM DIABETIC TYPE 2 PATIENT, I GET THE CHILLS MORE OFTEN AND ALWAYS COLD WHICH IS UNUSUAL FOR ME AS I AM A BIG PERSON. THIS DRUG WAS PRESCRIBED TO ME BY MY CARDIOLOGIST WHO TOOK ME OFF THE COUMADIN I HAD BEEN TAKEN FOR YEARS AND I AM CONSIDERING GOING BACK ON COUMADIN BECAUSE I NEVER HAD SYMPTOMS LIKE THIS BEFORE WHEN I WAS ON COUMADIN. I AM A DIGANOSED ATRIA FIB. PATIENT AND HAVE HAD THIS CONDITION SINCE 1994. PRADAXA IS RELATIVELY NEW IN THIS COUNTRY BUT I DO KNOW IT HAS BEEN USED FOR YEARS IN EUROPE AND CANADA AND JUST RECENTLY APPROVED HERE IN THE USA BY THE FDA FOR ATRIA FIB PATIENTS ONLY. THERE IS NO CONTROL POINT INR LIKE THERE WAS WITH COUMADIN AND THE ECT BLOOD TESTING USED OVER SEAS DOES NOT EXIST HERE IN THIS COUNTRY SO THERE IS NO WAY TO TEST THE AFFECTIVENESS OF PRADAXA IN ITS BLOOD CLODDING CAPABILITIES MEANING THERE IS NO INR TESTING THAT CAN BE DONE WITH THIS DRUG. I AM CONSIDERING VERY SERIOUSLY TO GOING BACK TO COUMADIN IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE PRADAXA IS TO NEW AND THERE IS VERY LITTLE INFORMATION AS TO WHAT IT CAN CAUSE IN FUTURE PATIENTS LIKE MYSELF FROM USING IT.
